If you think you know what ranking has in store for SEO on a long term basis, you may be surprised to find that keeping in synch with cramming many useless pages with links on them, does nothing for SEO strategy.

The individuals that do this do so in thinking that the traffic they exhume is getting informative bits and pieces of worthy information, when all they are really getting is links that take them directly to the products and services. Traffic that does visit these sites is none the smarter until they reach the sites and receive alerts for viruses and Trojan. The poorly maintained sites do show they have customers that really do purchase the products and services they offer, but this only allows the owner of this poor quality, maintained site to line his pockets and get away with keeping the site as is.

Ranking in regards to SEO, should be used long term, only if it is used in part as a bigger marketing campaign. Website owners that think that ranking is all they need to worry about need to realize that times are indeed changing and so are ranking in SEO strategies. If you are planning to use rank as your long term strategy, be forewarned that there is only so much traffic that will visit your site where ranking is concerned. There can be instances where all a website needs is SEO and ranking to make it successful, but it doesn’t happen often.

For example, search engines such as Google are now able to determine if a site is gaining traffic through it being genuinely popular with the masses, or if it is because the owner has abuses SEO in a way to rake in traffic. This shows you first hand where ranking looks to be headed as far as SEO is concerned. For the long term, ranking looks to be headed to a place where it is still important and probably will remain so, however, it will be looked at in a whole different manner by search engines. Ranking needs to be part of the whole picture to gain popularity for your website, not as the only means to get yourself some easy traffic.
